IFIP Working Group 12.13 (AI4GS) will stage the first of a series of conferences dedicated to AI for Global Security in Paris, France on 19th November 2024.

There are some very specific challenges that AI presents in the context of national defence and security that need to be addressed.

They include, without being exclusive:

  1. Transparency and Interpretability,
  2. Vulnerability to Adversarial Attacks,
  3. Data Dependency,
  4. Ethical and Legal Considerations,
  5. Human-Machine Interaction.

These challenges highlight the complexity of deploying AI in national defence and security contexts, emphasising the need for robust governance frameworks, ethical guidelines and continuous evaluation of AI technologies to address potential risks and maximise the benefits of AI in safeguarding national interests.

If your research includes one or more of these topics in a defence and security context, you are welcome to submit a paper at  https://easychair.org/cfp/ai4gs-24
