The inaugural IFIP International conference on Security and Data Privacy was held in India on 14-15 December 2022 as a virtual event. An annual event dedicated to security related research, and data, it is a part of IFIP TC 12 WG 13 AI for Global Security.
The 1st IFIP ICSDP 2022 was held at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering. It is a virtual conference with invited talks, and research papers presentation. The conference is chaired by Dr Chamundeswari Arumugam, Secretary of IFIP TC12 WG13, Dr Suresh Jaganathan, Dr S. Saraswathi and Dr V. Balasubramanian, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu, India and co-chaired by Dr Ulrich Furbach, University of Koblenz, Germany, Dr Sanjay Misra, Ostfold University College, Halden, Norway, Dominique Verdejo, Chair of IFIP TC12 WG13, Dr Shahrzad Zargari, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, Dr Thinagaran Perumal, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra, Malaysia and Dr Ammar Mohammed, Cairo University, Egypt.
The virtual conference was attended by an average of 30 participants from different countries around the world. Dr Annamalai, Principal, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, participated in the augural session and shared the vision of the event’s founder, Dr Shiv Nadar. The program featured five invited talks which reflected global security, data privacy, malware and security issues in industry.
The first day began with an introductory speech about the challenges of AI for global security by TC12.13 chair Dominique Verdejo, followed by the first Keynote from IFIP President, Anthony Wong (ICT Lawyer & CIO) about balancing interests in privacy, data protection and data use for AI. Then a second keynote came from Omar Seghrouchni, President of the National Supervisory Commission for Protection of Personal Data, Morocco, on the right to the protection of personal data.
On the second day Navaneethan M, Senior Vice President, Groww, Bangalore shared his perspective on Cloud strategy, threats, mitigation and impacts – industry strategy, cloud data safety, followed by a discussion on IoT ecosystems and the adoption of zero trust security for industrial operations by Dr Jagadish Chundury, Senior Technical Leader, CISCO Systems India. Finally, Dr Eslam Amer, Misr International University, Egypt spoke on malware analysis.
