The Swiss Informatics Society (SI) is gearing up for the inaugural Swiss IT Congress, to be held on 10th March 2022 in Fribourg, Switzerland.
Originally created as the Swiss Digital Summit, the event sought to inform the public of trends and new achievements in IT, attracting researchers from all over the world to present their research in accessible language while keeping the scientific depth at the highest academic level.
This latest iteration of the event, which has been rebranded as Swiss IT Congress (SITC 2022), will be held on 10th March 2022 in the Aula Magna of the University of Fribourg, exploring the theme of “IT Education in Switzerland”.
SITC 2022 is planned as a physical event, subject to further governmental restrictions as to public events, and we encourage all people interested in IT education to attend. The congress is free for SI and SIRA members.
The opening lecture will be given by Martina Hirayama, State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation on “Challenges of IT Education in Switzerland”. She will be followed by Dame Wendy Hall, from the UK’s University of Southampton, who will present the European initiative “Informatics for all”. Other highlights include Pierre Dillenbourg (EPFL) speaking about educational technology, while Ulrich Ultes-Nitsche (University of Fribourg) will provide an overview of informatics education at Swiss high schools. The agenda also includes short presentations about programs for certifying IT professionals and improving digital literacy.
The program will conclude with an industry panel of representatives from middle and upper management. Dalith Steiger-Gablinger of the CEO Swiss Leadership Forum will moderate the event.
The full program with all the details, information about the speakers, the venue and the registration can be found on the SITC 2022 website.
