Renato S. Marafioti

AICA, the Italian Association for Computer Science and Automatic Calculation has elected Renato Salvatore Marafioti as its new President for a three-year term from 2022-2024.

Graduated in Law and specialising in criminal law, Dr Marafioti has extensive experience in cybersecurity and ICT vocational training (since 1995). He is the Founder and President of Format, a cultural association in Calabria, which for 25 years has spread computer literacy and promoted the digital literacy and the value of certification of skills for employability. As President of AICA Calabria, Renato S. Marafioti has been a member of the AICA Council for the past six years.

“The experience I have gained in over 20 years of activity in the ICT ssector, both with Format cultural association as well as in AICA, will allow me to bring a significant contribution to play the leadership role AICA had in its first 60 years. My goal is to increase the visibility and image of AICA in Italy and abroad, enhancing its cultural and scientific mission; at the same time, I commit to work to increase the network of our Accredited Test Centres that represent our most important value, supporting them with a more market-oriented approach”.

AICA members and people involved with ICDL Test Centres and certifications congratulate and welcome the new President.

The AICA Council also reappointed Paolo Schgör, the Italian national representative at the IFIP GA, as Treasurer of AICA.
