Distinguished researchers and academics from different countries participated in the 19th IFIP Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI) conference from June 14 to 17 at the School of Industrial, Informatics and Aerospace Engineering, in University of Leon, Spain.

The main objective of this scientific forum was to provide a deep vision of the future of Artificial Intelligence and to examine important ethical aspects related to this constantly evolving discipline. The conference offered a deep insight into all recent scientific advances and timely challenges of AI. Moreover, it discussed ethical aspects and moral questions arising from the ability of AI to act autonomously, something that calls for the development of new legislative frameworks.

AIAI is a long-standing, well-established, mature international scientific conference, that has been held all over the world continuously for 19 years in the row. Its history is long and very successful, following and spreading the evolution of intelligent systems.

The first event was organized in Toulouse, France in 2004. Since then, it has had a continuous and dynamic presence as a major global, but mainly European scientific event. More specifically, it has been organized in China, Greece, Cyprus, Australia, and France. It has always been technically supported by IFIP and more specifically by Working Group 12.5, which focuses on AI applications.
