In an increasingly dynamic world, where disruptions have become the norm, the WSIS (World Summit of the Information Society) Forum has become a natural platform to exchange ideas and develop powerful collaborations.

To be held in Geneva from 6-9 April 2020, WSIS Forum 2020 represents the world’s largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community. Co-organised by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line Facilitators/Co-Facilitators, WSIS Forum has proven to be an efficient mechanism for coordinating multi- stakeholder implementation activities, information exchange, creation of knowledge, sharing best practices and it continues to provide assistance in developing multi-stakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development goals.

The 2020 Forum will provide structured opportunities to network, learn and participate in multi-stakeholder discussions and consultations on WSIS implementation. The Agenda and Program will be built on the basis of the submissions received during the Open Consultation Process.

Furthermore, the 2020 WSIS Forum (WSIS+15) will provide an opportunity to serve as a platform to track the achievements of WSIS Action Lines in collaboration with the UN Agencies involved and provide information and analyses of the implementation of WSIS Action Lines since 2005.

IFIP has played an active role in the WSIS Forum for the past several years, opening doors to present at the UN and play a more active role in driving the SDGs.
