IFIP stalwart, Don Passey is the new Chair of IFIP Technical Committee 3 (TC3), after a formal handover from Sindre Røsvik during the IFIP TC3 AGM in Mumbai, India in January.

Don has been actively involved with IFIP TC3 for over 25 years. Most recently he co-chaired (with Cathy Lewin) SaITE 2016 in Guimarães, Portugal, chaired WCCE 2017 in Dublin, Ireland, chaired the doctoral consortium for OCCE 2018 in Linz, Austria and co-chaired (with Therese Keane) OCCE 2020 in Mumbai, India.

Don said he has gained so much from being part of TC3 over the years. “IFIP TC3 has always been a welcoming community, yet sincere in its desires to support technological and computing awareness, access, and usability for all, to enhance teaching, learning and educational endeavour,” he said.

“This is a community where expertise in computing and digital technologies is shared internationally, openly and willingly across those concerned with policy, practice and research. IFIP TC3 continues to identify key challenges that we face internationally in education, and to look to ways to address these through appropriate approaches to policy, practice and research.

“I look forward to being involved in that continued journey.”
