Germany’s Society for Computer Science (GI) has celebrates 30 years of Women in Computer Science with a public reception on April 17 at Paderborn’s Heinz Nixdorf Forum.

Dr Christiane Floyd was the guest speaker, due to her position as the first computer science professor in the German-speaking countries.

GI President, Professor Peter Liggesmeyer, said it was important for women to play an active role in networking and building a strong presence in the sector. “Unfortunately, there are still too few women studying computer science and positive role models are extremely important in order to … make it attractive to students,” he said.
