IFIP and the Irish Computer Society are mourning the loss of Professor Liam Bannon, Emeritus Professor of Limerick University, who passed away in late September.
An IFIP Fellow (2020) and active member of various working groups within TC8 and TC13, he was the Founder and Director of the Interaction Design Centre at the University of Limerick from 1996 until 2010. His research interests covered cognitive ergonomics, human-computer interaction, computer-supported cooperative work, computer-supported collaborative learning, new media, interaction design, and social dimensions of new technologies. He was a founding editor of CSCW: The Journal of Collaborative Computing.
Colleagues described Liam as a excellent researcher and academic, and someone who was warm, kind and generous to those around him, always willing to offer guidance and support. He will be missed!
