IFIP’s Technical Committee on Education (TC3) is delighted to announce that Professor Toshinori Saito has been honoured with an IFIP Service Award at the recent GA in Switzerland.

Toshinori has been a regular and committed member of TC3 and its Working Groups (WGs), being involved in meetings, activities, and, importantly, being willing to lead the organising committee for the IFIP TC3 WCCE 2022 conference. This conference, hosted in Hiroshima, Japan, was the first hybrid TC3 and IFIP conference and its success was largely due to Toshinori’s unwavering commitment and dedication.

A long-standing member of WG3.3, having joined originally in 2003, Toshinori has regularly supported conferences by presenting papers, with his research work focusing on important and innovative theoretical and practical concepts concerned with inclusive educational practices for youth using digital technologies.

Toshinori has been the IFIP TC3 national representative for Japan since 2014, representing its national computing society, IPSJ. Since 2025, Toshinori has taken on the role of vice-chair of WG3.4.

According to TC3 Chair, Professor Don Passey, “IFIP, its TCs and its WGs depend on the goodwill and support of its members. Toshinori has offered outstanding commitment and contributions over many years, supporting administrative needs as well as demonstrating innovative research endeavour. We are proud and pleased to have Toshinori in our TC – this Service Award is well deserved.”
