Dear IFIP Members, Volunteers and Partners,
As 2024 comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our members across five continents, our General Secretary and staff, and to our 6,000 volunteers from academia and industry, working in more than 100 Working Groups, Committees and Boards, and Task Forces. Your dedication, passion, and support throughout the year have been invaluable. This holiday season, let’s take a moment to reflect on the incredible work we’ve done together and the positive impact we’ve made in advancing IFIP and technology for the greater good.
This year, we’ve made significant strides in promoting innovation, collaboration, inclusivity and the responsible use of technology. We’ve focused and addressed critical topics such as inclusive digital education for young people, climate change and digital technology, security and privacy, artificial intelligence, entertainment computing, quantum computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), ICT for sustainable development, ethics and professionalism, bridging the digital divide, empowering communities, diversity and ICT, information systems, computer science, communication systems, human-computer interactions and much more.
Your commitment to our shared mission has been truly inspiring and together we’ve built stronger connections within IFIP, and with the academic and technology communities. We’ve developed meaningful projects and provided invaluable support to those who need it most. Our collective accomplishments stand as a testament to the strength of our community.
All these activities continue to shape the world and the global communities in which we live. Your involvement is key to moving us forward, and we look forward to expanding our collaborations with our partners, stakeholders and in advancing the global community of ICT professionals, scientists and academics.
As we look ahead to 2025, I am excited about the opportunities to continue making a difference and the positive impact we can and have made together with our UN partners and stakeholders, including UNESCO, UNIDO, ITU, UNCTAD, WSIS, IGF, UNDP, and the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD). Additionally, we are continuing to strengthen our collaborations with academic and research institutions, our members, the ICT industry and our global community. There is so much more we can accomplish together and I am confident that with your continued passion and collaboration, we will achieve even greater success.
May this festive season bring you joy, peace and time to recharge with loved ones. Wishing you the best for the Festive Season and a Happy, Prosperous New Year filled with health, happiness and fulfillment.
