The second AI4GS (AI for Global Security) conference will be held on 17 August 2025 in Montréal, Quebec. Organised by IFIP WG 12.13, it will be hosted as Workshop 16 during the famous IJCAI Conference.
Global security refers to the measures taken by states, international organizations and other actors to ensure mutual survival, safety, and stability on a worldwide scale. This concept has evolved from a traditional military-focused approach to a more comprehensive framework addressing interconnected challenges in an increasingly globalized world.
Global Security is a transverse discipline aiming at gathering the common factors of security in the different domains, physical, cyber, economic, political, health, etc.
Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a pivotal tool in global security. From cybersecurity to military and counterterrorism applications to video analytics and fight against fraud and money laundering, AI offers unprecedented capabilities and challenges.
Topics
The conference will explore diverse range of topics considering facets of AI and global security, including:
- AI in Cybersecurity: Exploring the latest advancements in AI-powered defence mechanisms, threat detection, and cyber resilience strategies.
- AI in Military Applications: Examining the transformative impact of AI on military operations, from autonomous drones to predictive analytics in defence planning.
- AI in Counterterrorism and Homeland Security: Analysing the role of AI in thwarting terrorist threats, leveraging data analytics, and predictive modelling to enhance security measures.
- AI Ethics, Governance and Global Security: Delving into the ethical considerations surrounding AI deployment in security contexts, and the implications for human rights and international law.
A specific focus will be put on LLM technologies, cognitive AI and neuro-symbolic solutions for security, including (but not limited to):
- Information Fusion
- Threat Detection and Analysis
- Decision Support
- Misinformation and Disinformation Detection
- Behaviour Analysis in Cyber and Physical Environments
