Second UN Virtual Worlds Day: Delivering on the Pact for the Future
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) are inviting participation in the Second UN Virtual Worlds Day: Delivering on the Pact for the Future.
Ther invitation also comes on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Guatemala, the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), UN Tourism, the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), the United Nations University (UNU), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Bank.
The event will take place in Turin, Italy, on 11-12 June 2025, from 0900-1800 hours (CEST) and will be hosted by ITCILO.

Virtual Worlds Day to Feature First UN Citiverse Challenge
As part of the event, ITU will stage the First UN Citiverse Challenge under the theme: “Citiverse: Designing Digital Public Infrastructure for Future Cities”.
The challenge is being held in collaboration with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN Tourism, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Bank, Digital Dubai, the City of Tampere, the City of Valencia, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC),
Participation in the UN Citiverse Challenge is free of charge and open to both youth and startups. The prizes include 5,000 CHF for the youth category and 5,000 CHF for the startup category. The award ceremony for the youth category winners will take place during the UN Virtual Worlds Day in Turin. The award ceremony for the startup category winners will be held during the Valencia Digital Summit in October 2025, in Valencia, Spain.
