NCS Stages 2nd Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Summit
The 2nd Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Summit was recently held in Jos, Nigeria from 21–23 March 2023 with the theme: AI and Robotics for National Development.
Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) President, Adesina S. Sodiya, a Professor of Computer Science and Information Security, expressed certainty that AI and Robotics will ultimately reposition Nigeria’s major social and economic sectors including health, education and manufacturing.
According to Professor Sodiya, “We look forward to having several indigenous robots that would be used in some of our industries for industrial automation. We look forward to the full deployment of AI in Nigeria’s health sector, agricultural sector, sports sector and many other areas. We are also using the opportunity of this summit to create awareness of emerging technologies in the industry since our long-term goal is to advance these innovations and inventions by attracting more investors and venture capitalists as well as other corporate organisations, individuals and government to show interest and support this kind of program.”
The summit featured Technical Sessions; Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Workshops; Exhibitions and Demonstrations; Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Challenge; Discussion Forum and AI4D.
Cybersecurity Forum & Workshop
As of today, several trillions of dollars worth of Nigerian resources are available online. This development is making attackers to develop sophisticated strategies to penetrate Information Technology Infrastructure and online resources. NCS has a core mandate of supporting government towards the realisation of a safe and secured deployment and use of IT resources.
NCS is holding a Cybersecurity Forum and Workshop from 2-5 May 2023 and intends to make this Stakeholders Meeting a powerful platform for analysing the situation critically and provide reliable solutions to Nation’s Cyber Security challenges. Experts from various aspects of the economy has been invited to lead discussions at the meeting.
NCS remains committed to IT Development in Nigeria and has scheduled many programs geared towards addressing the factors mitigating efficient use of IT for leapfrogging development.
