Plans are underway for the 26th National Conference of the Nigeria Computer Society, to be held from 19-21 July, 2016 at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria.

The largest annual gathering of Nigeria’s ICT community, the Conference will bring together ICT professionals, employers, investors, businesses, agencies, vendors, industry bodies, innovators, researchers, educators and thought leaders.

With the theme of, “Information Technology for National Safety and Security”, the conference will use the multi-stakeholder forum to explore ways of using IT-enabled Security to advance and achieve Sustainable Development. It is one of NCS’s key platforms to facilitate the development of an inclusive, globally competitive and prosperous Nigeria through information technology.

New features of the event this year will be a public sector ICT showcase and a Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship platform. Other highlights include Plenary and Parallel Sessions, Technical Sessions, Seminars, a Research Consortium, Induction of New Members, Exhibition and Products Launch, IT Competitions; Fellows’ Forum and Annual General Meeting.

The NCS has established a Multi-stakeholder Local Organizing Committee (LOC) comprising NCS Abuja chapter executives as well as representatives of private and public sector stakeholders under the leadership of Jide Awe, Chairman of the NCS Conferences Committee.

Speaking at the LOC inauguration, Acting Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Vincent Olatunji commended NCS for its consistency in addressing issues that are critical to the growth of the tech sector and called for a focus on local solutions, in view of the nation’s current national and economic challenges.
