CIPS IFIP 60th Event Speakers Panel: Data Privacy and Digital Governance

1 November 9:00-10:00 ET

As of 2020, 3.8 billion people use the internet for about six hours and 43 minutes each day and 74 per cent say that are not aware that their activities and interests are being tracked. Seventy-eight per cent also say that they are uncomfortable with lists being generated about them. As technology advances and legislation changes there is increasing need for better and more accessible information on data privacy and digital platform governance. Responsible Artificial Intelligence Institute (RAII), Better Ethics and Consumer Outcomes Network (BEACON), The International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), the International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3) and the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) will come together to discuss these concerns.

Live Panel: What does Data Governance look like in the world of AI?

4 November 16:00 pm – 17:15 UTC +13

Machine Learning and AI is redefining how technology – and the world – works. Greater use of ever-increasing volumes of data provide massive opportunity for the world to progress like never before. But as luminaries such as Elon Musk have warned, AI also poses a huge risk to humanity. So a huge opportunity and an equally significant risk. In this webinar panel we’ll ask, what does data look like in an AI world and in particular, how can we get data governance and protection right in a way that enables maximum innovation? The future relies on us getting this right, now. This live online panel of global experts, in partnership with IFIP’s 60th Anniversary, will explore data governance and where that balance lies – within the context of AI and other advances in technology – with lots of time set aside for Q&A.
