The 2026 Joint Open Conference of IFIP WG 8.3 (Decision Support) and IFIP WG 12.15 (Generative AI) will take place from 8–10 June 2026 at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, bringing together two complementary fields at a pivotal moment in the evolution of information systems and artificial intelligence.

The conference continues the long-standing tradition of IFIP WG 8.3, which has played a significant role in advancing interdisciplinary research into decision support systems and the ways information systems can enhance human effectiveness in complex and uncertain environments.

A major milestone for this year’s event is its joint format with IFIP WG 12.15, marking the inaugural conference of IFIP’s newly established Working Group on Generative AI. The collaboration reflects IFIP’s ongoing commitment to emerging technologies and creates a valuable platform for exploring how human-centred decision making is evolving alongside rapid advances in AI-driven creativity and automation.

The conference theme, “Human-Centric Decision Making: Transforming with AI,” highlights the growing importance of ensuring that AI augments rather than replaces human judgement. Discussions are expected to explore collaboration between humans and intelligent systems, decision quality, sense-making, organisational transformation, and the practical application of AI-enabled decision support across business and society.

The programme will feature keynote speakers from academia and industry, reinforcing the conference’s strong focus on bridging research and practice while fostering knowledge exchange and international collaboration across the IFIP community.

Overall, the joint conference reflects IFIP’s continued evolution in bringing together established expertise and emerging domains to address the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation.

The event will be hosted by Cork University Business School at UCC.
