
At this year’s General Assembly, IFIP was delighted to approve the membership of two new Member Societies, the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana and the ICT Association of Uganda. Both societies offer services relevant to IFIP’s mission and strategic objectives, especially to “Promote professionalism, excellence, digital equity, ethics and inclusion in ICT governance and application.”
The Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH)
The mission of the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana is “to mobilize all ICT professionals under one professional body to positively influence the development, standardization and delivery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across Ghana”. Established in 2017, their professional networks span over 2,600 professionals, 40,000 students, 50 corporations and 300 published articles. From consultancy services to public awareness programs to online coding lessons, the institute offers numerous projects to develop and empower Africa’s tech future.

The ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU)
The ICT Association of Uganda, established in 2015, defines itself as “a multi-stakeholder initiative formed by private individuals from Uganda, with the vision of providing professional guidance to individuals and organizations in the private sector, as well as offering advisory services to government on policy-based issues”. It aims to “drive Uganda’s ICT revolution and shape the future of development through innovation and professionalism”. The ICTAU unites different ICT stakeholders to help achieve its mission. Important events participated in by the ICTAU over the past year include the second National ICT Summit 2025, which is Uganda’s most significant platform for national dialogue, knowledge transfer, and practical policy alignment regarding information technology.

IFIP’s Strategic Missions
IFIP set itself the goal to bring in new Member Societies, particularly in underrepresented areas of the world. With the approval of these two new Member Societies, it is taking a decisive step in expanding its reach, contributing to the positive development of ICT worldwide and helping Member Societies gain the benefits of global interaction, allowing them to learn from the success stories of each other.
