The Kristian Beckman Award was established in 1992 by IFIP TC11 to commemorate the first chair of the committee, Kristian Beckman from Sweden, who was also responsible for promoting the founding of TC11 in 1983.  This award is granted annually to a successful nominee and is presented at the annual IFIP Security Conference that is organised under the auspices of TC11.

Rossouw has had an illustrious career in academia with a lifetime dedicated to information security teaching and research. Over his 40+ years of service, he has predominantly concentrated on research, education and practice in the areas of computer security (at first), information security, cyber security (in more recent years) and security management that branched into security governance.

His scholarly contributions have included more than 250 research papers with significant citations and an impressive h-index. His ranking as the global #1 Highly Ranked Scholar by ScholarGPS in both Information Security and Security Management demonstrate his standing and impact as a researcher.

His involvement and contribution to societal and organisational structures in the field of information security are commendable. His commitment, dedication and involvement, specifically within IFIP TC11, contributed to his receiving the highly celebrated IFIP Fellow Award, acknowledging his contribution to this field.

Professor von Solms will be presenting a keynote talk at the IFIP SEC Conference in June (Perth, Australia) and will formally receive his award as part of that event. You can register for the conference here.
