IFIP has been invited by the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Secretariat to host a Town Hall session at the 17th IGF 2022 under the overarching theme Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 30 November 2022. The meeting programme is guided by five themes drawn from the Global Digital Compact in the UN Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda report. 

IFIP President Anthony Wong will be moderating the Town Hall session and will be speaking on “Ethics and Regulation of Emerging Technologies & AI”, together with Shamika Sirimanne, Director of UNCTAD’s Division on Technology & Logistics, Head of the secretariat to the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) and Edward Santow, former Human Rights Commissioner ofAustralia, Professor and Co-Director of the Human Technology Institute, UTS. IFIP has also invited Dr. Oliveira from UNESCO, to highlight on how the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Civil Servants, will assist to address the risks and challenges arising from the development. deployment, use and actions of AI, autonomous and intelligent systems.
