IFIP is a member of the Informatics for All (I4All) coalition, which advocates for “the inclusion of informatics as a foundational discipline in schools across Europe”. IFIP is represented on the coalition I4All Steering Committee by two members of IFIP TC3.
Having previously created an Informatics Reference Framework for School, I4All has been exploring how informatics and computing in schools can be further developed, focusing on how teachers are being trained and supported for teaching informatics and computing. Part of that exploratory work has involved gathering initial details about national and regional structures that provide such support.
A document has now been created from responses to a consultation, circulated to I4All Steering Committee members, to IFIP TC3 members and to IFIP TC Chairs. Details about the training and support in 22 different countries has been collated and is now published on the IFIP Digital Library.
For each country, details are included about: institutions of higher education (HE) providing pre-service informatics and computing teacher education, development or training (for teachers seeking to become formally qualified); any associations of pre-service HE providers for informatics and computing teacher education, development or training; and associations that provide in-service informatics and computing teacher support and education, development or training (for teachers already formally qualified).
Thanks to the contributors for providing the valuable details in this text – and for those wishing to add more details, there is a 2025 edition planned. Please see the text for contact details!
