ICDL Ireland has won back to back awards won for the second year in a row at this year’s European Best Practice awards for the launch of its new digital certificates for ICDL candidates.
Since June 2019 almost 50,000 students have been sent their digital certificate.
ICDL Ireland and Irish Computer Society CEO Jim Friars said, “I am delighted to see our digital certificate programme transform the way we do business by making this part of our work completely paperless.
“It’s good for our students because it makes it so much easier for them to share their achievements, it’s made us more efficient and it’s helping to save the planet too. This award is a great way to recognise that good work.”
In June 2019 ICDL Ireland began the digital transformation of its ICDL certification issuing process.
The goal of the project was to deliver a completely paperless solution which is cost effective, environmentally friendly and verifiable. Additionally, it needed to help raise awareness of the ICDL brand in Ireland by providing shareable certificates for past students to share online.
The new system is both secure and environmentally friendly as it is totally paperless.
As the system is blockchain secured, ICDL Ireland has delivered digital certificates using the latest blockchain distributed ledger technologies. This has the advantage of protecting customer data, being difficult to forge and also easy to share.
