The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) will host the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (jBOI) 2025 in Larnaca from 24-30 October. The competition will take place at “Tasos Mitsopoulos” High School in Aradippou, with the sponsorship and support of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus.
jBOI is an annual competitive programming event bringing together talented secondary school students from across the Balkans. Teams represent their countries by tackling challenging algorithmic problems under International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) rules.
This year’s edition will welcome delegations from 10 countries. The programme includes two competition days, cultural excursions, and opportunities to explore Cyprus’s rich history, natural beauty and renowned culinary traditions. The Opening Ceremony will be held on Saturday 25 October, with the Closing Ceremony and Medal Awarding on Wednesday 29 October.
Cyprus has built a strong tradition of excellence in informatics competitions. Recent highlights include seven medals and three honourable mentions at international Olympiads in 2024, a gold medal at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics 2025, and two bronze medals at the IOI 2025 in Bolivia.
“Hosting the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics is a great honour for Cyprus. It highlights our commitment to nurturing young talent in digital skills, programming and innovation, while also showcasing Cyprus as a hub for education and technology in the region,” said Andreas Loutsios, Vice-Chairman of CCS.
The CCS looks forward to welcoming all delegations for a week of competition, learning and intercultural exchange.
