Recognising the need for its governance and activities to involve people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, ACM has created a new Diversity & Inclusion Council, a cross-cutting group charged with coordinating and promoting diversity and inclusion efforts throughout the organization. ACM invests in a number of programs that focus specifically on different aspects of diversity and inclusion:
- Regional Councils in Europe, India, and China
- ACM-W, the Community of Support for Women in Computing
- The annual Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing and Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
ACM’s Diversity & Inclusion Council will build on these activities to ensure that anyone, from any background, feels encouraged to participate and contribute to ACM.
