IFIP World Computer Congress 2015 to Explore Technology Futures

Friday 19 June 2015 – The International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) today announced that the 23rd IFIP World Computer Congress will be held in South Korea from 4-7 October, 2015.

One of the largest and most important ICT conferences in the world, WCC 2015 is IFIP’s flagship event and expected to attract over 2,000 researchers, ICT professionals and academics to the Daejeon Convention Centre. Delegates will hear from global experts on topics ranging from Big Data and artificial intelligence to new trends in software engineering and the future of jobs in the innovation economy.

With the theme of “WCC 2015, Opening Our Future Together”, the Congress will feature presentations from leading ICT entrepreneurs, researchers and software engineers, as well as encompassing 13 specialised events and a large industry exhibition under the IFIP WCC 2015 banner.

The vision for WCC 2015 is to create a world-class forum for ICT practitioners from users, service providers, researchers and academic communities, with speakers from around the world addressing two streams: “Creating New Jobs in the Software Oriented Society”; and “Integrating Software Education, Research and Accreditation”.

IFIP President, Leon Strous, said WCC 2015 will provide delegates with unprecedented opportunities to learn from industry gurus about the latest technology developments, participate in group discussions and to network with other ICT professionals and researchers from around the world.

“With its unique mix of high profile speakers, specialised events and industry exhibition showcases the latest products and techniques from leading vendors, the World Computer Congress offers a melting pot of learning experiences to enable ICT professionals to expand their knowledge, share ideas and experiences, and grow their professional network,” he said.

Plenary and keynote speakers include:

  • Jeannette Wing, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Research;
  • Jin-Hyung Kim, President of the Software Policy and Research Institute;
  • Eve Anderson, Senior Manager, Accessibility Engineering at Google Research;
  • John Morton, serial entrepreneur and CEO of CPM;
  • Mark Mueller-Eberstein, CEO and founder of Adgetec Corporation.
  • Ajahn Brahm, an internationally respected Buddhist monk and Cambridge physics graduate; and
  • Professor Valentina Dagiene, Chair of the Informatics Methodology Department at Vilnius University

 

WCC 2015 General Chair, Professor Dong-Yoon Kim said they have invited a long list of distinguished scholars from all over the world to ensure that the Congress is filled with rich and insightful sessions.

“We have gone to great lengths to ensure that this event features the leading experts from each of the fields being addressed, whether it be enterprise information systems, Big Data, agricultural software or very large system integration, to name just a few.

“A special workshop on Digital Equity will also explore strategies to address the digital divide and ensure that all peoples around the globe have the ability to access and experience the many benefits of technology,” he said.
