IFIP Congratulates Professor Ricardo Reis, Chair of Technical Committee 10, on receiving the title of Docteur Honoris Causa de L’Université de Montpellier.

A professor in the Department of Informatics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre (Brazil), Reis is engaged in research around Physical Design Automation and Methodologies, CAD tools, Circuits Tolerant to Radiation, VLSI Design Methodologies and Microelectronics Education.

With more than 500 publications and numerous prototypes to his credit, he is recognized internationally for his contributions to the automatic synthesis of topologies of CMOS digital circuits. He represents Brazil in many forums and has contributed to many collaborations with France, particularly with the University of Montpellier since 1990.

In addition to Chairing IFIP TC-10 on Computer Systems Technology, Reis is a Past President of the Brazilian Computer Society, Past Vice-President of the Brazilian Microelectronics Society and has chaired various conferences including IFIP/IEEE VLSI-SoC, IEEE ISVLSI, IEEE LASCAS, Symposium on Integrated Circuits and Systems Design (SBCCI) and Congress of the Brazilian Microelectronics Society (SBMIcro).

He was honoured in a ceremony at the University of Montpellier on 9th December.
