IFIP IP3 Launches New Accreditation Guide
New Simplified Guide Supports Schemes Seeking to Recognise ICT Professionals
Wednesday 14 June 2017 – The IFIP International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3) – the body focused on professional standards for the global ICT industry – today launched its new, simplified Guide for Accrediting Schemes to Recognise ICT Professionals at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum (WSIS) 2017 in Geneva.
IFIP IP3 Chair Brenda Aynsley said, “The purpose of the simplified guide is to provide a pathway for IFIP IP3 partners to begin the journey towards developing professionalism schemes that recognise the capability, capacity and currency of their individual members.”
She went on to note that “we too often do not provide recognition for our best and brightest ICT practitioners and it’s so important to do that to improve participation amongst both genders working in this sector.”
IFIP Vice President Yuko Murayama said the Guide was designed to support the IFIP Duty of Care for Everything Digital Initiative (iDOCED) which seeks to remind both providers and consumers of digital products and services of their duty of care in ensuring that they act responsibly in relation to the digital world.
“During this week’s WSIS Forum, IFIP IP3 will run a workshop entitled: “Cybersecurity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: What you need to do to protect yourself and your citizens whilst growing your economy”, she said.
“The workshop focuses on raising awareness of how users can and should protect themselves in today’s digitally-connected world, and to highlight the need for companies to act responsibly and ethically in developing and implementing commercial products and services.”
IFIP is a supporting partner of WSIS and participates in the Forum each year to promote the benefits to society and the economy that arise from a focus on professionalism and ethical behaviour amongst those who create, manage and maintain ICTs.
